Trumaine Johnson to be NFL’s Highest Paid Cornerback

According to an anonymous source, the Rams and CB Trumaine Johnson will not be able to agree on a multi-year pact by the July 17 deadline. This means that he will be tendered with the franchise tag for the second consecutive season, and will therefore earn $16.724 million during the 2017 season.

This makes him the first cornerback to be tendered with the franchise tag in consecutive years since Charles Woodson in 2004-2005. Johnson was selected in the third round by the Rams in the 2012 draft out of the University of Montana.

Johnson signed his franchise tender with the Rams on March 6th.
